“Julius Thurgood and the HRDC have worked on many race projects over the years, the most notable being ROP for the renowned HRDC ‘Academy’ cars. Being a one-make Series, aimed expressly at newcomers to historic racing, the safety specification of the ROP was paramount for installation in the 1950s Austin A30 and A35 cars that formed the basis of this ultra-competitive Series.
Inevitably, as in any race Series, racing accidents happen. However, none of the Caged ROP units taken out of race-damaged HRDC ‘Academy’ cars showed any signs of distortion – nor did any driver sustain injury due to ROP failure. That proves convincingly that the confidence held by Julius and the HRDC in Caged as their primary ROP supplier has been well founded.”
